Field Notes

Description:

A small, brown mammal that doesn't exceed 3 inches. There is a pointed snout, and the eyes and ears are very reduced.

Habitat:

Caught in a pit fall trap for my Master's research, light oak forested area.

Notes:

This guy was deceased in my trap when I went to check it :( My traps are checked every day, there was a cover board to protect the animals from the sun, and there was a wet sponge in the trap to keep the humidity up. I just think this guy was so little that he couldn't handle much, and the heat just got to him or something. He was the only vertebrate trap mortality I had all summer :/
