Description:

This is Pearl, the Harris Hawk and her handler. She is brought to several locations (here, at the La Jolla hotel La Valencia) to chase off seagulls. She is let completely off her lead and when she returns after a successful chase, she is rewarded with meat.

Habitat:

Harris Hawks live in sparse woodland and semi-desert, as well as marshes (with some trees) in some parts of their range. Harris Hawks are permanent residents and do not migrate.
