Field Notes

Habitat:

On the surfaces of green leaves in garden shrubs; this large oxyopid species has a colouring pattern that blends well with the colours of flowers and green leaves; this very mobile spider usually ambushes its prey but can build a web

Notes:

Its bite may lead to pain and mild human illness but few bitings of humans are on record; it jumps strongly so could accidentally enter clothing and might then bite
