Description:

This healthy seal spent more than an hour sunning itself on an exposed rock while other harbor and grey seals flopped in and out of the water nearby. Roughly 70 adult seals and a few pups were seen in the area. College of the Atlantic students and staff monitor marine mammal and seabird populations in the area.

Habitat:

on and around Mt. Desert Rock, 20 miles off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine
Spotted from the research vessel Osprey operated by College of the Atlantic
