Field Notes

Description:

Displays the "mohawk" and "worm-like" antennae of my previous sphinx spotting, but the coloration was quite different. Had mossy-green, powdery-white, and flat-brown tones, reminiscent of tree bark with lichens.

Habitat:

Found in Northeast Missouri, near mostly fruit and nut orchards, but other wooded areas are nearby

Notes:

Incredible example of camouflage! Fortunate to find this one on a rock, as I doubt I would have noticed it on a tree. :)
