House Wren
Troglodytes aedon
32.9628, -117.036
Field Notes
Description:
Lovely House Wren who made two nests the year the photo was taken; the birds featured in the photos here all fledged successfully in early summer while the second nest suffered two fatalities, possibly due to extreme heat that summer.
The song she sang during nesting season was lovely!
Habitat:
Thought to achieve the highest density in floodplain forests in the western great plains where it uses woodpecker holes as nesting sites. In South and Central America it can be found in virtually any habitat and is, as indicated by its common name, often associated with humans.
