true, Cammie! I am just hoping to have some time this weekend to head to the woods in search for more :-)
Haha..! I wonder about the name myself, Eis :-)
Looks....tasty? Not my type of chocolate!
I couldn't find anything about them. It's a rather uncharted group of organisms. And you can move it if you want, but it probably doesn't make a huge difference in the long run. "Other" would be technically more correct.
Oh Gosh, Lucky! I am absolutely outdated with the kingdom distributions :-) Then you think I should place it in category "Other"? Thanks for pointing this out for me. "You will never go to bed without learning something new" :-) If you go to my collection you see the two other most recent spottings of molds that I still need ID for... and thanks for the effort ;-)
Not to be rude, but you should read this. It's actually pretty interesting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slime_mold
It is! yes, thanks! ;-) I am adding the info to my spotting now. Do you know about the other two spottings I have?
Thanks Lucky! I did call it fungus as in the kingdom to which it belongs but indeed is not a fungus like a mushroom :-) I will check for the Chocolade Tube Slime mold. Many thanks for the suggestion :-)
My guess is that this isn't a fungus, it's a slime mold. It looks similar to Chocolate Tube Slime Mold.
Thanks, Tamar! Yes, and I could not resist to touch it and then it quickly fell off to dust. I guess they are sporangia of some sort but I still need to find the ID.
Marta, it is very interesting! It looks like a crazy wig!
