Field Notes

Description:

The Kalij Pheasant is found in forests in the foothills of the Himalayas. Males have a glossy bluish-black sheen. Females are pale brown all over.

Notes:

Males have a dramatic courtship display in which they stand erect, spread out their wings and shake them at a high speed. The glossy feathers look beautiful when they do this action.
