Description:

Heavy body.

Habitat:

Was at my window at night. Mostly it was fluttering around. Had to wait patiently for it to settle down for a few seconds to get these pics.

Thanks Ornithoptera. I agree with you. Though I Naturalist did have it listed in Florida.
When looking, it seems that Catocala palaeogama is not found in Florida, and also the undersides do not match that well, (https://www.prairiehaven.com/?page_id=27385). The species that seems to match is Catocala ilia, which is also found in your area. https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/128517
