Field Notes

Description:

There were hundreds of these Dingy Purplewing butterfly near the creek and on sandy beaches in the river forest. It was really hard to get the dorsal view because as soon as the touched down they would close their wings, but it was worthy the effort. It is funny how the purple sheen in the dorsal view is seen depending on the light reflection.

Habitat:

Subtropical river forests, hardwood hammocks.
