Field Notes

Description:

This unknown seedling was growing out of a Pileated Woodpecker hole in the trunk of a dead pine tree.

Habitat:

This is the same pine trunk shown in my last spotting of the Pileated Woodpecker.

Notes:

Like my spotting of the oak seedling this plant was growing from deep in the tree. How did the seed get here?
