Field Notes

Description:

This specimen appeared to have a wine-colored neck and brownish colored feathers.

Habitat:

Amazon rainforest

Notes:

This was seen when taking the Canopy Walkway after reaching its entrance platform following a short hike from ACTS camp. The ruddy pigeon was seen atop a tree in the third canopy of triple canopy rainforest a couple hundred feet distant.
I used a Nikon D7100 and 70-300mm lens at 300mm, together with bracing the camera against the wooden framing of the platform that formed a crook. This provided a makeshift tripod of sorts, but stability nonetheless. The first and second images are digitally cropped.
