Field Notes

Description:

White rubber foam like center with extending arms and what appears to be some kind of clam shell.
Shells are soft and leather like. Instead of a clam tongue little feeler arms come out.

Habitat:

Ocean. Found on north western coast of Denmark

Congrats peter, this fascinating barnacle has been chosen spotting of the day! Or bouy barnacles. The blue has a deeper color. They live on a small stick which is what I am holding in the last photo

Yes it appears to be connected via the arms. Touching the white center makes all arms retract simultaneously

I have never seen anything like it. Nor has the locals. Saw a guy from the department of Forrest and wild life trying to figure them out...
