Description:
As young they start with bright green and yellow stripes with a red mark on each side of its head. But as they begin to grow and age they become a olive green color and the bright yellow becomes less visible and more of a dark yellow. They can up to 12 inches in shell length. Known to live for 50 years or more with proper care.
Habitat:
In the wild they are usually found in swampy areas,ponds,lakes, and rivers.
Notes:
The red eared slider is part of the sliders family. The reason for their name is the red marking on their head. That are located in the places were their ear is. The slider part they get is because of the instant sliding off a basking spot into the water. When spotting possible danger.
