Field Notes

Description:

The blue-gray gnatcatcher is about 4" (10cm). Light blue to gray head, back, breast and wings with a black forehead and eyebrows. White belly and prominent white eye ring. Long black tail with white undertail. Very active tiny bird so was lucky to get this one picture.

Habitat:

Spotted one blue-gray gnatcatcher in the woods at Pocomoke River State Park, Pocomoke City, Maryland. According to a naturalist at the nature center, there are several of these blue-gray gnatcatchers in the park but they stay high up in the tall trees.
