Field Notes

Description:

Pupa opening and butterfly coming out.
Brown dried pupa, black and white wings coming out. About 3cm (pupa)

Habitat:

Our garden on lime plant, Near Reservoir and strips of jungle, Yishun, Singapore,

Notes:

This is one of the caterpillars that I found on my Lime plant. See also http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/343026003

I moved them into a tub so I could follow the process better. This one unfortunately died as it did not succeed to get itself out of the pupa. At close investigation it looks as if his wing was stuck behind the silky girdle the caterpillar had made. On the pictures it was very much alive.
