Indonesian Eyelash Viper

Hello. Ashy pit viper, flat-nosed pit viper and Javanese pit viper seem better common names for this snake than Indonesian "eyelash viper". Eyelash viper normally refers to Bothriechis schlegelii, an unrelated snake from Central & South America which is known from its pronounced superciliary scales over the eyes which gives rise to its common name. I don't really see "eyelashes" as such in Trimeresurus puniceus. :-)

Kalau "rattle" itu semacam bunyi kertak-kertuk yang berbunyi dari ujung ekor ular "rattlesnake" sebagai peringatan bahwa harus menjauh, berbahaya. Seperti Ashley jelaskan kelompok ular itu cuma dapat di Amerika (utara, tengah, selatan).

Hi Irene, this is a beautiful snake! It is in the same family as rattlesnakes (Viperidae), but this is not a rattlesnake. Rattlesnakes are only found in the Americas. Hopefully someone can ID this gorgeous snake for you soon :)
