Field Notes

Description:

Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy. These birds were way up high on the rocks. Another bird mistaken for a penguin or parrot. Mostly black with a white mask and long white tufts of feathers on sides of the head. Large thick orange bill shaped similar to a parrots bill. Orange feet.

Habitat:

Sea bird found on rocky cliffs and slopes, winters in the ocean.

Notes:

Spotted on the Farallon Islands (Sugarloaf)
