Field Notes

Description:

Uniformly grey-brown caterpillar, with warts and short hair.

Habitat:

Seen on flowers of Meadow Sage in montane grasslands & pastures (about 750 of altitude) close to mixed and protected forest. The area is in lake Geneva valley, at the feet of Jura mountain range.

Thanks Daniele and Bayucca; I agree with you both; I got "lost in translation" and lumped all larvae into caterpillars... Unfortunately, no other shots; this fella let itself fall from the flower and disappeared in the vegetation immediately after the shot...
I agree with bayucca. Any ventral or lateral shots Zlatan? They would allow us to see if there are any prolegs or not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proleg
Not 100% sure, but I think this is not a caterpillar, but a larva of a leaf beetle (Chrysomelidae).
