Description:

Found in the tidepools in Avalon harbor on Catalina Island. It's not native here and was likely dropped by a tourist or a boat and then found by me.

I think you're right about it being a star limpet. A lot of the shops next to the beach sell shells so I'm sure a lot of them end up in the ocean one way or another. Thanks!

That looks like a star limpet, but there are no star limpets in California...I was thinking it might be a worn lottia scabra, but still it looks more like a star limpet to me (Patelloida saccharina)... Would you please consider if there is a chance, an imported star limpet shell was droped by someone, and was found by you?
