Field Notes

Description:

Seen from 30 feet away. Appeared to be 3-4 inches in length. Body appeared to be shades of brown, gold and tan. Appendages appear to be two pincers on arms with many legs

Habitat:

Wildlife preserve (island) known as Bird Island (formerly Beercan Island). inaccessible to humans. Picture taken across a 40 to 50 foot canal separting island from humans. These crabs were walking on a seawall next to a salt water intracoastal waterway.
