Description:
caps: 8cm diameter, 4cm high. light orange brown surface which was smooth and a felty visual texture under mmagnification. curling veil remnants along margin. pore surface is creamy yellow colour. 4 pores per mm. stem 12 cm long. 1.7 cm across at top, 3 cm at base. exterior has dark fibers in almost a fishnet pattern. Brown spore print. flesh bruises slowly dark.
Habitat:
growing in sand under many immature aspen.
Notes:
Also called Leccinum achraceum by Schalkwijk-Barendsen
the very young specimens had few or no grubs. When fried in butter they were slightly crunchy with nutty taste.
