Roo scat truffles

Initially mistaken for dried kangaroo dung these (5 within 2 metres) turned out to be a type of mostly underground fungi. The part above the ground was black, very firm, yet velvety with tiny tufts. The dimensions continued well below the surface and became pale yellow with some signs of mycelium. I kept brushing away the soil on one side until about four times the black part was exposed. The whole thing was then about 110mm tall (25mm black top)
