(This one seems to be growing in an old, mulched flowerbed.)
Habitat:
grow on dead or mature hardwoods such as oak, cherry and beech from August to october. widely distributed across Europe and east of the Rockies in North America.
Notes:
It is often referred to as the chicken of the woods due to its edibility and suggested taste. it is most edible when young (if a clear watery liquid comes our) and should not be eaten raw.
