Description:

Shed exoskeleton of a grasshopper that can be seen in my next spotting. Arthropods shed their hard external shell as they grow. That process is called ecdysis. The outside layer of the eyes also sheds. Another reason for shedding is metamorphosis.

Habitat:

Evergreen bush in backyard
