Field Notes

Description:

Osprey nests are usually very easy to see, as they are rather large and are made of twigs, and, many times, are entwined around small limbs, as is the case in this image.

Habitat:

Osprey are found on every continent with the exception of Antarctica.

Notes:

Osprey nests are fairly common in tall trees, especially those that are dead, and frequently seen on fixed buoy channel markets in fresh and brackish areas of water in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This particular nest was seen in First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach.
