Field Notes

Notes:

This bowerbird lives in our yard in Roma. We couldn't see a bower anywhere, but the bird seemed to be collecting colourful objects and stashing them in the leaf litter in the front yard, such as the orange fruits off the neighbour's palm tree (see shots 4-6). Neither my husband or I had ever seen a Spotted Bowerbird before - they only live in inland Queensland and NSW. Spotted bowerbirds have a pink crest on the back of the neck but this little bird didn't show us its crest.

Bowerbirds are so cool to watch as they go about there business. You might find the bower later.
