Field Notes

Description:

Giant wood-rails can commonly be seen near lagoons, lakes or near the sea in Uruguay. It is common to see them walking gently near the water, hiding among nearby trees or bushes when a noise is preceived. At times it may fly. This beautiful birds eat fish,frogs, insects, seeds and fruit.

Habitat:

They live in the Neotropical zone, except Chile. They are commonly seen all around Uruguay's countryside, generally near water.

Notes:

I always spotted them in groups.
