Description:
An old multi-chambered gall approximately 2 inches (5 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) diameter with multiple chambers.
Habitat:
Gall on an old blackberry cane.
Notes:
Galls produced by the wasp Diastrophus nebulosus. The wasp deposits eggs into a blackberry cane (stem) in spring/summer months. The gall is the plant’s response. The wasps eggs hatch and larvae develop during the winter; wasps emerge in the next spring.
