Field Notes

Description:

A flat and long legged spider; about 12mm body; very aware and quick to move; coloured and patterned much like the bark it was living on. Distinctive extra long spinnerets.

Habitat:

In a roadside rest area just south of Sydney on a pale eucalyptus trunk.

Notes:

Hard to get a good shot of this one. It had a habit of scuttling to the other side of the tree when it saw me. Good shots had to be one-handed using the other to 'scare' it back to my side. 8-D
Not a lot is known of these yet with much work still to be done.
They are also responsible for the small spherical egg sacs on a thread which we often find on eucalyptus. <It could be a pale H.fickerti http://www.arachne.org.au/01_cms/details.asp?ID=2540
