Field Notes

Description:

A small white butterfly with creamy coloured under-wings, white upper surfaces including a few sooty dark markings. Body is all sooty black.

Habitat:

Open grassy farmland in a small country town.

Notes:

Introduced to Ausytralia it was first recorded in Melbourne in 1929 and by 1941 had made it to Sydney - roughly 1000kms away. Two wasps were introduced to the country to keep it's numbers down with some success.
