Field Notes

Description:

Small tree to large shrub 12 to 14 feet in height. Light green leaves with white panicled flowers. Also black berries on panicled stalks.

Habitat:

Wet areas next to everglade swamp.

Notes:

Berries, when collected in large enough quantities, make excellent pies. I had Elderberry pies a couple times when I was very young. Though it was fabulous. Ate so much a got very sick. Never ate again.
