Field Notes

Description:

Growing on a twig (there was another close by that may have been growing on leaf-litter but equally could have been growing on twig) in rhododendron stand. cap was about 8mm across. Stem was quite flexible but once it went past it's yield stress (or whatever) it immediately snapped. About this mushroom from an expert: 'the first one looks to have a gelatinous gill-edge (unless that is just an artefact?); in which case it could be part of the species-complex around Mycena epipterygia, a still confused and not-worked-out-yet area of Mycena studies'
