It probably won't have salmonella but they are mildly toxic. It's always good to wash one's hands after handling wildlife, anyway :)

Thanks for all the help identifying this little guy! I did handle him but washed my hands afterwards and before eating. Hopefully that protects me from any potential salmonella threat!

Great find, this looks like a fairly young eft. Once they become older they darken and become entirely aquatic.
