Field Notes

Description:

Pycnonotidae; Pycnonotus goiavier (Scopoli, 1786). A very common bird in the Philippines which can be seen in our garden and backyard every day. They annoy our dogs by taking a bath in their drinking bowl and annoy the people by pecking at their own reflection in our windows. They seem to be rather bird-brained creatures.

Habitat:

This Yellow-vented Bulbul was spotted in our backyard on a Ben Oil Tree (Moringa oleifera) locally called Malungay (sometimes spelled "Malunggay").
