Yes, it does. The tops of Johnson Grass are light and yellowish when young. Turning tan to brown later. If the grass starts out with this much red-purple-maroon color, it's probably Putpletop. Could be exceptions, I guess ... there often are!
How would you differentiate between the two? It looks really similar to Johnson grass.
Very similar "profile" to Johnson Grass ... I love it when people take photos of grasses!
