Description:

Pieris rapae is a species introduced from Europe in the 1860's around Montreal, but has successfully spread itself across most of North America. The butterfly is not a widespread invasive species, however, it can become a pest for farmers of cabbage and related plants in the Brassicaceae family.

Habitat:

Found nectaring along the trail at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.
