Description:

The beaver is a primarily nocturnal, large, semi-aquatic rodent. Castor includes two extant species, North American beaver and Eurasian beaver. Beavers are known for building dams, canals, and lodges. They are the second-largest rodent in the world

Notes:

This was Freeland Lake, a small lake between George Lake and Killarney Lake at Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada

7am: We drifted our canoe up to the beaver hut and watched the beaver repair the outside of the hut for over 5 minutes. The canoe was only 5feet away when the beaver noticed us. Just after this picture the beaver gave us a good splash with his tail slap.
Never have seen one in the wild - though there are always 'signs' that they are around. Great capture!
