I agree completely with Aaron. This is certainly a Carolina Sphinx caterpillar!
This is also known as the tobacco hornworm. The tomato hornworm (also known as the five-spotted hawk moth) has v-shaped white lines instead of striped ones. http://bugguide.net/node/view/5011
