Description:
The Lace Bug (Family Tingidae) is one of my all-time favorite bugs. They are very tiny and it is hard to see their incredible beauty. This one is 2 mm long. The first picture was taken through a microscope. The second on the underside of the bug was not. These bugs feed on leaf sap with sucking mouthparts. I missed taking a picture from the side, which is incredible, because the pronotum has elevated and hollow lace-like structures. See reference.
Habitat:
Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.
