Field Notes

Description:

This butterfly wouldn't come close, so I took these photos from a long way off. I did see it quite close one time, but I didn't have my camera, and when I returned with it, it had gone. Only saw one 3 times on my whole trip.
The upper wings were striped in red and black, the red being extremely bright.

Habitat:

Dry rainforest far NW of Costa Rica.
