Field Notes

Description:

Large beetles usually dull black, sometimes shiny and some have lengthwise ridges. They are also called tumble bugs. The head and the pronotum are often broad, and in many species, those of males are adorned with horns or other projections.

Notes:

I have memories of watching them fly in sometimes and land upside down and the amazing thing about rolling the earthy ball of dung.
