No great mystery, Emily, I identified it for a spotting of my own the other day. So I was all ready when I saw yours! And I found another possibility for my mystery grass, maybe Foxtail Brome, Bromus rubens. Dunno, I can't find a photo of it with big seed heads. But see what you think ...

Hi Emily! Yes, invasive. But if I'm understanding it correctly, the plant has small, nutty tubers which people dry and eat in some parts of the world. I can't find a large enough specimen to check for them ... and I don't think I would eat one without talking to an expert!
