Thanks Neil. I cannot find any mention of that species in Spain, even as a pet, but they could be released pets anyway, or they could been brought over with the so-called "Florida Turtles" which are an introduced species. I have not come across any Spanish turtle experts yet! I think the carapace length was probably less than 6" which would mean this is a young one.

Hi Malcolm. This one is not a red-eared slider since it doesn't have the characteristic red marks on the top of the head. My guess is that it is something in the Pseudemys genus, which would make sense with the black and yellow head stripes. But the shell doesn't give much to go on. :) Pseudemys concinna is my best guess.
