Description:

Crotalus viridis is a venomous pit viper species native to the western United States, southwestern Canada, and northern Mexico.
This species commonly grows to more than 100 cm in length.

Habitat:

Seen in Natural Bridges park.

Well this is the website for Utah reptiles, and when you click on each snake, there is a link showing you where in the state it is found. There are only two species where you saw this guy at, and I think it's a Prairie Rattlesnake. But have a look and see what you think. Oh no !! fast one photo and then quickly away I was a little too close and on the other side was a cliff, I'm sorry ;-))))
Do you have any photos of the tail, or remember what color the tail in front of the rattle was? Based on range, I want to call this a Prairie Rattlesnake, but I would have to see the tail to confirm
