http://www.gardenswithwings.com/facts-info/ncommaquestionmark.html This is a site that shows the difference between a Question Mark and an Eastern Comma butterfly. Thought it might help.
I compared several photos from both, and believe because if the white marking this is a Comma. Thoughts?
Now, Karen we have to debate... I will check again, but you might be correct with the Comma. Do you know about the little point in Question Mark and the distance to the curved line? http://bugguide.net/node/view/264950/bgpage http://bugguide.net/node/view/667916/bgimage Space and no space between the white markings? What do you think?
Nymphalidae, Nymphalinae, Nymphalini, Polygonia sp. and should be Polygonia interrogationis, the Question Mark. It is a butterfly, sometimes very variable in colors and markings. Look at the clubbed antennae, moths usually have straight/filamentous or featherlike antennae. http://bugguide.net/node/view/230475/bgpage http://bugguide.net/node/view/134571/bgpage
Please verify as there are several similar, including the question mark
