Description:
Fig trees can be seen in Spring with their unique constitution, which is both a woody and a herbacious. They store large amounts of water in their trunks, branches, and roots, an attribute that is key to their survival in the desert like climates they are indigenous to.
Habitat:
Fig trees are commonly found on rocks or hills, where the soil is able to drain and the tree can get heat from all sides. The fig tree also prefers dry, arid climates. This climate is fundamental to the production of the figs themselves, as their sweetness is in direct correlation with the lack of water they have in supply toward the end of Summer.
Notes:
While taking our dogs for a walk, my family passed by this tree. My husband inquired what type of fruit I thought was on the tree. Since I was unsure, we picked one and opened it. Once I saw the inside, I thought it might be a fig, though I had never seen a green one. So I went home and verified that it was infact, a fig tree.
