Description:
Family Tachinidae, subfamily Phasiinae. This fly is present in most of Europe. The adults grow up to 5–9 millimetres (0.20–0.35 in) long and can mostly be encountered from early August through late September feeding on nectar of flowers.
Habitat:
Found on a wild growing golden rod, meadowland.
Notes:
In this quite variable species the body may be blackish or brownish. The broad abdomen is flattened. The larvae are parasitic of Hemiptera, mainly of various species of Shield Bugs. This fly is present in most of Europe.
