Field Notes

Description:

A Plocama calabrica (syn. Putoria calabrica) creeping flower plant with tiny tubular (4 petals) flowers in pink shades, wich in time produces tiny red edible berries...It was spotted mid July, and the plants were blooming, although clusters of red berries were also present...It's a rather common plant in Epirus region, Greece, and can be found around mountain streams, like the Goura stream, where I found it...
Although I'm not sure that people actually collect it and eat it (I ate it though!), I know for sure that is also eaten by turtles, hedgehogs, birds etc...
