Description:

Climbing vine, sending out feelers, searching for a place to put down new roots, annex uncharted territory. So-so image quality from camera phone, but any thoughts ... ?

Species ID Suggestions

Agreed, ForestDragon ... I'm just waiting a bit to see if JacobHeights would like to make a formal Suggested ID, and get started on that Keen Eye badge!
Thanks, shebe. I thought about kudzu too, briefly, but eliminated it. Kudzu has pale, fuzzy "gourd-style" feelers that curl and corkscrew around, well, you know ... everything.
I agree, the tendrils are reminiscent of poison ivy, but I don't know kudzu well and that might also be a possibility.
Agree, shebebusynow, not a great spotting ... just a few quick shots as I passed by. The leaves were perhaps 2 1/2 inches long. On reflection, I thought the shape of the plant might have been distorted by its challenging location. There are a fairly limited number of things it can be, though, and those tendrils are unlike other climbing vines in the area. Other thoughts?
The photos don't give a real sense of proportion, but the leaves look rather big for poison ivy.
Hi, Jacob, thanks for the comment. I originally took this photo for the tendrils ... it was trying hard to attach. Haven't looked at it for awhile, but I think you're right. Would you like to Suggest an ID? Successful suggestions help you earn a Keen Eye badge ...
This looks like Poison Ivy. Three leaves with a red center. Their vines are 'hairy'.
